Emma Isabella Sisa Simone El Makdessi
PLEASE NOTE: THIS SITE IS UNDERGOING RENOVATIONS AT THE MOMENT, THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE Psychology BA, Smith College '12 Neuroscience MSc, Kings College London '13 I am a Lebanese-Swedish masters student living in Notting Hill and I travel frequently to Beirut and Ystad, and infrequently to Massachusetts. I relish all forms of art including photography, theatre, writing, mixed-media installation art, and painting/drawing. I inherited a love of aesthetics from my grandmother, a Swedish textile designer. I have been raised multi-culturally; I am Swedish-Lebanese, raised in the Middle East and Europe, attended university in the US, and am currently completing a Neuroscience MSc in London. Living in various places has allowed me to view design, aesthetics, and art from numerous viewpoints, and see firsthand both exquisite art from Louvre to MOMA and the expressions of wartime in Lebanon, all of which were consistent parts of my upbringing. My visual arts work ranges in style and subject from portraits to installation work with paper, doorways, cast lips, metal and wood, and my photography is a growing and as-of-yet untrained passion. I aim to avoid being cornered by reputation and simply react to/record all that is meaningful, or a valuable moment, irrespective of propriety, fear, or cliché. Help me expand my work, teach me, recruit me for projects, writing, editing, modelling, art/photography assistance, or honour me with the chance to draw you / photograph your event. [ See Wedding/ Portrait] Please comment if you have any reflections or constructive criticism of my work, I'd love to hear from you. |
